Touchscale Owner's Manual

Congratulations on purchasing the most innovative scale ever created. Please take the time to read this manual to learn about the many features of the Touchscale before use. If you do not understand this manual or have unanswered questions about your scale please contact us. This site also provides an advanced programming manual for experienced users who want to customize their touchscale.

Low Batteries & bad battery connections are the #1 cause of scale malfunction and inaccuracy! We test all of our scale returns from consumers. Fully 60% of consumer returns are battery related problems. This sounds silly but it's true! A scale will perform slowly, or read inaccurately when it has low batteries. Please replace the batteries often (and only use good quality batteries). We include good quality batteries with all of our scales but batteries can run low in storage. If your scale simply won't turn on while on Battery power, this is often caused by loose battery connections. Battery prongs (terminals) are made of metal. They must be making good contact with your batteries in order for the scale to power on. You can use a paperclip to slightly bend the battery prongs to make them have a better connection. Also some poorly designed batteries have recessed or partially obstructed battery terminals. This may cause your prongs to be touching the plastic housing of the battery instead of the metal battery terminal.

NOTES BEFORE USE

  • Always empty the tray/platform before turning the power on (clear the platform before turning on)
  • Do not get the scale wet or hot and do not operate on any wet or hot surface To clean the scale, wipe the surface with a clean damp cloth or mild non-abrasive cleaner. Do not use an abrasive cleaner because it may damage the finish.
  • Do not overload the scale. That is, do not place anything that weighs more then 200 Grams on the platform. You may permanently damage the load cell.
  • Handle the scale with care. This is a precision instrument and should never be dropped or otherwise mishandled. Dropping or shocking the scale will damage the internal sensors and void your warranty. We take extreme pride in the Touchscale and we ask you to treat the scale with the utmost care.
  • Do not leave anything on the scale when not in use.
  • If the scale is excessively cold or hot, leave the scale off and allow it to acclimate to normal room temperature for at least 1 hour prior to use.
  • Do not operate a cell phone or cordless phone within 10 feet of the scale. It may temporarily cause the scale to malfunction.
  • Do not touch the LCD screen with any sharp object; it will damage the touch panel.Ê Use only the stylus provided with the scale.
  • When changing batteries be sure the scale's cover is closed to protect from possible overload.

NORMAL WEIGHING

  1. Do not put anything on the scale tray before you turn it on.
  2. Turn the scale on by pressingÊ the ON key. After 2 seconds, the display will read "0.0 g".
  3. Always allow the scale to warm up for at least 30 seconds before weighing for accuracy and stability.
  4. Place the item to be weighed on the center of the silver platform and read the value on the display.
  5. TARE Function: If you need to weigh loose items or anything in a container or tray you should use the TARE function. There are two ways to use the tare:
    1. Turn the scale On.
    2. Place the empty container or tray on the platform.
    3. Press the TARE button-the display will change to "0.0"
    4. Place the items to be weighed into the container / tray.
    5. The exact weight of the items will show. (use your tweezers to handle all gems).
  6. Another simple way to use the tare for lighter items (e.g. the included expansion tray) is to simply turn the scale OFF, place the item to be tarred onto the tray, then turn the scale ON. The scale will automatically tare the tray and 0.0 will show on the display.Ê The scale is then ready for you to place items onto the tray to be weighed.
  7. The scale has an Auto-Off feature that turns off the scale after lapses of non-activity. If the scale is in a room with wind or air movement, it may sense the pressure of the air and not auto-off. In this case simply press the OFF button to turn the scale off manually.
  8. MODE Function:Ê This scale has the ability to weigh in grams, ounces, pennyweights or troy ounces. Simply press the MODE key once the scale is on. Look for the g, oz, dwt or ozt on the left of the display to know what mode you are in.

BATTERY INSTRUCTIONS
Note: THE SCALE'S COVER MUST BE CLOSED BEFORE REPLACING BATTERIES. If the battery voltage is too low during power on, it will display "Lo" for about 3 seconds and then turn off automatically. If the battery voltage becomes too low during operation, the low-batt icon will show on the screen. Replace the batteries as soon as possible. Use 2 CR2032 3volt batteries. Please make sure the polarity is correct when installing new batteries. Slide the battery cover to access batteries.

USE AS A SIMPLE DIGITAL CALCULATOR
Use the Stylus Pen included with the scale and stored in the holder on the front of the scale. The scale can perform four arithmetic calculations: +, -, X, /.
e.g. To calculate "(3+8)X5=55",
enter [3] [+] [8] [X] [5] [=]
then "55" will be displayed on the upper row.

MEMORY FUNCTION

To store items in memory:

  1. First, enter the number (value) that you want to store in memory on the top row of the display.ÊYou can do this by using the number keypad.
  2. Touch the [M] key in the top right corner of the display.
  3. The [M] key will blink and all four Memory buttons will show on the display (M1,Ê M2,Ê M3,Ê M4).
  4. Choose one of the 4 memory buttons, e.g. [M1] by touching it.
  5. The current figure on the upper row is then stored in M1
  6. The [M] key will then stop blinking

To clear the memory:

  1. Touch the [MC] key. At this time, the [MC] key will blink.
  2. Choose one of the registered memory buttons, e.g. [M1] by touching it.
  3. The stored figure in M1 is then cleared.
  4. The [MC] key will then stop blinking.
  5. Repeat this process for all memory numbers that you want to delete.

To recall items in memory:
The 4 items can be recalled for calculation at any time. To recall the memory, simply touch one of the memory buttons, its content will be displayed on the upper row. This comes in very handy for price computing. Simply pre-set and store your values in the memory, then you can use them to compute prices as outlined in the next section.

Note: The Touchscale uses a special integrated memory that is able to store and recall values even when the power is reset or the batteries changed on the scale! At My Weigh, we engineered the memory to make it easier for most individuals, because they weigh the same types of items for the same unit prices.

PRICE CALCULATION

  1. Set the unit price:
    1. Enter the unit price on the upper row. e.g. unit price = $1.23/g
    2. enter [1] [.] [2] [3] (1.23 will show on the upper row)
    3. If the unit price was stored in the memory before (e.g. M2), simply touch the correspondingÊ [M2] button to retrieve it.
  2. Put the object to be weighed on the platform and the weight will be displayed on the lower row. e.g. weight = 35.6g
  3. Touch the "CALC" key to perform the multiplication function: Total Price = Unit Price X Weight = 1.23 X 35.6 = 43.788. The total price "43.788" is then displayed on the upper row.
  4. If the weight is changed, the total price figure will also be updated instantly.
  5. To quit this function, simply touch the [C] key (the results will still be kept on the upper row) or touch the [AC] key (the result will be cleared and 0 will show on the upper row)

TRANSFER THE WEIGHT CONFIGURATION FOR CALCULATION
The weight figure can be copied to the upper row by simply touching it. What this means is you can weigh an object and the weight will show on the display (eg 35.6), if you touch the displayed number (35.6) the number will be automatically copied to the upper row. It can then be stored into the memory or used to perform other calculations.

SIMPLE CALIBRATION
This scale is accurate within 0.1g, only calibrate if your readings are inaccurate beyond 0.1g. Always allow your scale to warm up for 30 seconds before calibration. Always move your hands very gently during calibration as to not cause vibrations or air movement.

  1. Turn the scale off and clear the platform. Make sure nothing is on the platform, not even the plastic tray.
  2. Place the scale on a flat stable surface that has no vibrations and make sure there is absolutely no air movement.Surface must be extremely stable.
  3. Turn the scale on by pressing the ON key. Remember to make sure the silver platform is empty.
  4. When the display shows 0.0, Place a 100 gram weight on the center of the tray.
  5. Wait 5 seconds for the display to stabilize ,then press and hold the MODE key until the display flashes 100.0 twice. This will take about 6 seconds.
  6. Calibration is complete, release the MODE key and remove the weight from the tray.
  7. If the readings are inaccurate, perform calibration again. If your scale will not properly calibrate or shows "err" please try the advanced calibration and reprogramming instructions.
